Theoretical training IFR

Description

IFR theoretical training – as one of the main training courses behind the Cirrus philosophy Approach – forms the basis for maintaining an appropriate level of skill for each pilot. It is all the more important the more complex and demanding the area of knowledge the pilot uses. Regular exercises carried out under the experienced guidance of an instructor make it possible to consolidate knowledge – especially in the area of emergency situations – and to continuously improve the art of piloting regardless of the airline’s flight.

Cirrus SR aircraft are designed to enable the pilot to perform IFR operations efficiently even in very demanding conditions. The pilot has direct access to all necessary flight parameters at all times and is supported by a range of modern systems to enhance safety.

Invariably, however, it is the pilot, operating as a single-pilot crew, who remains responsible for interpreting the available data and making decisions. The regular IFR competency check within Cirrus Approach thus becomes a guarantee of safety and the maintenance of skills at a high level despite the passage of time.

Theoretical training shall include among others:

1

IFR regulations

2

Meteorology

3

Navigation principles

4

Operational procedures

5

Principles of communication

IFR theoretical training includes a detailed discussion of aviation regulations, including observance of minimum altitudes, air traffic control procedures and airspace management, analysis of weather conditions and their impact on IFR flying, including interpretation of forecasts, recognition of hazardous weather phenomena and strategies for avoiding them.

It also covers the use of navigation systems, including GPS, VOR, NDB and INS, route planning, navigation guidance and instrument procedures, standard operating procedures for the various phases of flight: take-off, climb, cruise, approach and landing, as well as emergency procedures and crisis management. The training also includes radio communication with air traffic control, IFR phraseology and principles of emergency communication.
