Instrument Rating Revalidation (IR)

Description

Individual ratings on an aviation licence require regular revalidation, and this can be carried out up to three months before the expiry date of the relevant entry on the licence. Without an appropriate update of the entry on the licence, the pilot is not allowed to perform selected flight manoeuvres.

An IR (Instrument Rating), or instrument rating, is valid for one year. The process of revalidating IR licences can be combined with a proficiency check, which is also required for revalidation.

If your rating has expired, it is necessary to undergo refresher training at an Authorised Training Organisation (ATO) such as Aero Poznan.

The purpose of such training is to re-attain the level of skills required to safely fly a particular type or class of aircraft. The scope of the refresher training is determined individually by our centre.

1

Candidate experience, which is assessed during the check flight (performance evaluation).

2

Complexity of the aircraft operated

3

Time elapsed since the expiry of the entitlement.

Based on the performance assessment, the ATO develops a personalised training programme, focusing on areas that need improvement.
